introducing dr kim hurst
We warmly welcome to Silverstream Health Centre a new GP partner, Dr Kim Hurst.
Kim studied medicine at the University of Birmingham before joining UK's Royal Air Force to complete her hospital residency and GP training as a military medical officer.
This allowed her to gain a variety of experiences from search and rescue in South Africa and expedition doctor accompanying a team ascending Mount Kenya, to being a solo GP in Kosovo, as well as providing primary care on her home shores.
She moved permanently to New Zealand one year ago due to her love for the outdoors and desire to find somewhere to finally settle with her partner and dogs after years of travelling as a servicewoman and sportswoman. As a keen endurance athlete, Kim is also naturally drawn to challenges New Zealand’s infamous ultra-distance events offer and already ticked off the Karapoti last year.
Kim has a passion for healthcare and enjoys the challenges general practice provides.
“I enjoy all aspects of being a family doctor. I love the variety and diversity the job provides, the personal nature of caring for families across generations, and believe that it is a particularly privileged position to hold within your community,” says Kim.
