Flu vaccines are now available at medical centres.
These are free for:
- everyone over 65
- diabetics
- pregnant women
Other long term conditions qualifying for free vaccines include:
- current invasive cancer
- cardiovascular disease
- respiratory disease requiring preventative inhaler therapy
- renal disease.
- Ask your doctor or practice nurse if you qualify for a free vaccine and make an appointment at your practice today.

We warmly welcome Dr Sangita Bharatia to Radius Medical. Sangita has worked as a GP in Whakatane for several years, and we are delighted that she has joined us. New patients are welcome, and Sangita is now accepting appointments.
maternity leave
Dr Joanne McKnight will be going on maternity leave soon. With her baby due in April, we wish her all the very best.
Joanne plans to return to us on a part-time basis in the future, and while Joanne is away we would like to recommend to you the other doctors in our practice:
introducing Stijn de Ruijter
We are delighted to introduce Dr Stijn de Ruijter, who has joined our practice.
Stijn is an experienced GP from The Netherlands, and we welcome him to our beautiful town. He has a special interest in minor surgery and trauma care, and enjoys the mixture of clinical work that is provided by general practice and likes taking time with his patients and their relatives.
joanne & christopher mcknight
Drs Joanne and Christopher McKnight joined us in 2011. Both from the UK, Joanne and Chris worked as registrars at Hawkes Bay Hospital in 2010. They returned to the UK to complete their GP training, but missed New Zealand so much they decided to return. Looking for a smaller town on the coast, Whakatane fit the bill perfectly.
