Total Health Physiotherapy

We have particular interest in sports injuries, lower back pain and post operative rehabilitation. We enjoy working with sports teams and have worked with Te Teko RFC, Whakatane High School 1St XV, Mataatua Touch Team and New Zealand Woman’s National Sevens team. When organised well in advance we are able to travel with teams to tournaments.

Physiotherapy is a health profession concerned with human movement, based on knowledge of the bones, muscles, joints and nerves that make the body move.

Physiotherapists:

  • Assess, diagnose and treat human movement movement problems
  • Provide pain relief after illness, injury or surgery
  • Teach specific skills and exercise programs to prevent injury and avoid re-injury
  • Provide protective strapping/bracing to aid return to activity and sport
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and safe work or recreation environments
  • A variety of treatment techniques are used, including mobilisation, manipulation, exercise, massage, strapping and the use of various medical electrical equipment.

These skills are used to treat a wide range of problems including:

  • Back/neck problems (sometimes present as headaches)
  • Muscle strain
  • Sports injuries
  • Conditions that limit movement such as arthritis and rheumatism
  • Fitness education for a variety of people ranging from elite athletes to patients recovering from surgery
  • Stress related pain or tension
