Our doctors
Appointments are not always needed at Radius Medical, but some of our doctors and practice nurses work part-time so if you'd like to see a particular doctor please call ahead to make an appointment. Meet our doctors:
Lorraine Anderson BHB MBChB Dip Paeds Dip Pall PGDipGP FRNZCGP
I enjoy all aspects of general practice but have a special interest in dive, sport and travel medicine. I also have post graduate qualifications in paediatrics (children’s medicine) and palliative medicine (care of terminally ill patients). You will find me very flexible with regard to all natural and alternative medicines. I like to keep up to date with the latest medical education which requires my absence from the practice for about 3 weeks of the year to attend courses, seminars and conferences.
I was born and educated in Whakatane and have a passion for the town and community and in particular a concern for the health of our population. I am involved as a voluntary trust board member of both the EBOP Community Hospice and the EBOP Palliative Care Steering Group.
Lorraine is currently on sabbatical leave, returning in March 2010.
Dr Grahame Jelley
I was born in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1959 and qualified in medicine from the University of Cape Town in South Africa in 1983. Post grad, I worked in rural mission hospitals and a large referral hospital in South Africa, did a stint in the UK and returned to Zimbabwe where I worked for a large sugar farming industry providing general practice and industrial medical services. I then moved to a small general practice in a tea and coffee farming region.
We made a move to New Zealand in 2000 and were in family practice in Westport for four years, before joining a small local practice in Ohope in October 2004. I joined Radius Medical in 2007. I enjoy a special interest in minor surgery, children's health and end of life care. I have been accredited as a “Quit programme” smoking cessation and nicotine replacement provider. I am an accredited Bay of Plenty District Health Board GP with special interest accreditation for minor surgery. I am married with two children.
Dr Jodie Ask MBBS MRCP DRCOG MRCGP DFFP
I graduated in England in 1997. I spent several years working in hospital medicine before completing my training in general practice. The reason for my move to New Zealand is that my husband who is Maori and originally from Te Puke was keen to return home. We arrived in New Zealand in 2004 and are enjoying our new life here in Whakatane. In 2006 I became a mum and we now have a beautiful little boy – Jacob.
I have post graduate qualifications in family planning, general medicine, obstetrics and gynecology. I perform IUD (coil) insertions at this surgery. I enjoy working as a general practitioner and have a special interest in family planning.
Indira Edwards MBBS FRNZCGP
I have been in general practice in New Zealand since 1993 and working at Radius Medical since 2003. I enjoy caring for families and offer a comprehensive primary care service with an accent on keeping well.
Dr Emily Hermanson now works part-time at Radius Medical, Whakatane.
